World Environmental Day is celebrated every year on June 5. This day was established by the United Nations in 1972, which shows that concern about the environment goes back several decades at least. 143 countries take part in World Environment Day, and the day focuses on environmental concerns ranging from pollution to global warming and sustainable food production to protection of wildlife. Every year holds a different theme that focuses on a pressing environmental concern and this year. This year the focus is ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’.

Shirley Conlon Organics is definitely taking steps to reduce the use of plastics as we launched our Zero Waste Zero Plasticinitiative earlier this year! We also offer customers a free product if they return 6 empty bottles of our products! We hope this will encourage our customers to keep the bottles and help us reduce, reuse and recycle more!

We at Shirley Conlon Organics want to bring a change to the UAE and raise awareness of the harmful effects of plastic pollution. According to a 2018 YouGov survey the UAE uses around 13 billion plastics bags every year. We are definitely part of the ‘Say No to Plastic’ initiative this year and as we wrap up World Environmental Day, let’s try and use less plastic and contribute to helping our Earth!
