It’s that time of the year again… Spring break! The kids are off school for the next two weeks, which means more of a chance to indulge in some relaxation, catch up on sleep or even escape to a serene destination for a little time on the beach!

Whatever the plans, we usually end up over indulging – too much of a good thing is never a good thing….
Stay focused on healthy options and aim for at least 80%-20% health v indulgence. Enjoy sensible sunshine and eat/drink your sunscreen (carrots, watermelon, pomegranate, berries, broccoli). Wear a hat and protective clothing and stay out of afternoon sun. This is a great time to say indoors and play games, do some yoga, painting or other fun activities that we don’t often get the time to enjoy. If afternoon sunshine is unavoidable, then make sure to apply and reapply sunscreen often. I believe sunshine is vital for overall health and wellbeing – but please be sensible here!
Travel can disturb our routine often reflecting in our skin! Here are a few easy tips to keep a simple but effective routine going during the weather changes, late nights and indulgence…
1. Cleanse, Cleanse, Cleanse: The foundation to glowing skin is a good cleanser that will gently remove excess sebum and prevent breakouts, keeping the skin PH balanced and hydrated.
2. Hydration: I know you’ve heard it before but drink plenty of alkaline water and fruit and veggie juices. Carry a hydrating spritz everywhere – not only is it cooling on the skin but it helps shrink pores and contains a humectant to fix moisture onto the surface of the skin.
3. Sunscreen: Eaten, applied and worn! Combine internal and external factors to protect you and your family to stay healthy and safe in the sun.
4. Facemask: this is an excellent and easy way to pamper the skin after a long day. Make it fun and share a mask with the ones you love. I personally love to apply a mask with my daughters – it always creates some laughter and fun.
